And you also have important information to remember both while on your trip and after your return. We provide you with these Quick Tips to help you leave with peace of mind and enjoy your trip.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h2>Before you leave<\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3>Did you:<\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the eligibility and your medical declaration, if applicable? (This can be done online, using our Client Portal. Create an account today if you haven\u2019t already.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mention to your broker any changes to be made to your policy, such as a modification of your travelling dates or to your medical declaration, for example?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place your Travel Insurance Confirmation in your suitcase? It includes your wallet cards and the numbers to reach Emergency Assistance. Don\u2019t forget to bring your Government Health Insurance card as well; the number could be required in the event of an emergency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consult the Government of Canada\u2019s website\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travel.gc.ca\/travelling\/advisories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Travel Advice and Advisories<\/a>?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget that your protection has exclusions for conditions that were not\u00a0<em>Stable and Controlled<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Si vous craignez que l\u2019une de vos conditions m\u00e9dicales soit instable, informez-vous \u00e0 propos de notre\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tourmed.ca\/en\/travel-insurance\/our-options\/reduced-stability-period\/\">option p\u00e9riode de stabilit\u00e9 r\u00e9duite<\/a>;<\/span> nous pourrions peut-\u00eatre couvrir cette condition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3>\u201cStable and Controlled\u201d<\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<p>To be covered, any medical condition (whether declared or undeclared) must have been Stable and Controlled for a period of 3 or 6 months before the departure date (3 months for persons of 3 months to 69 years old \/ 6 months for persons of 70 years old and more).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>\u201c<em>Stable and Controlled<\/em>\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Means any\u00a0<em>Medical Condition<\/em>\u00a0(other than a\u00a0<em>Minor Ailment<\/em>) for which all the following statements are true:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There has not been a new diagnosis, any new\u00a0<em>Treatment<\/em>\u00a0prescribed or recommended, or\u00a0<em>Change(s)<\/em>\u00a0to existing\u00a0<em>Treatment\u00a0<\/em>(including a stoppage in\u00a0<em>Treatment<\/em>), and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There has not been any\u00a0<em>Change\u00a0<\/em>to any existing prescribed\u00a0<em>Medication<\/em>\u00a0(including an increase, decrease, or stoppage to prescribed dosage), or any recommendation or starting of a new prescription\u00a0<em>Medication<\/em>\u00a0(Exceptions the routine adjustment of Coumadin, Warfarin or insulin and the change from a brand name\u00a0<em>Medication<\/em>\u00a0to a generic brand\u00a0<em>Medication<\/em>\u00a0of the same dosage); and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There has not been any new, more frequent or more severe\u00a0<em>Symptoms<\/em>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There has not been any\u00a0<em>Hospitalization<\/em>\u00a0or referral to a specialist, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There has not been any medical exam, investigative testing or test results showing deterio\u00adration; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There has not been any\u00a0<em>Treatment<\/em>\u00a0recommended, planned or not yet completed, nor any outstanding test results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>All of the above conditions must be met for a\u00a0<em>Medical Condition<\/em>\u00a0to be considered\u00a0<em>Stable and Controlled<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>In the event of a disparity between this definition and that stated in the policy, the latter prevails.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>The meaning of words written in\u00a0<em>italics<\/em>\u00a0is explained in the \u201cDefinitions\u201d section of the policy wording.<\/p>\n\n<p>Nous vous invitons \u00e9galement \u00e0 prendre quelques minutes pour consulter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tourmed.ca\/en\/5-golden-rules-of-the-insured-client\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Les 5 r\u00e8gles d\u2019or de l\u2019assur\u00e9<\/span><\/a>\u00a0et nos trucs sur\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tourmed.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Comment-prevenir-le-refus-dune-reclamation-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comment pr\u00e9venir le refus d\u2019une r\u00e9clamation<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h2>During your trip and after your return<\/h2><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h3>Don\u2019t forget:<\/h3><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call Emergency Assistance before any treatment. The numbers are on your wallet cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your broker at least five (5) days before the expiration date of your policy if you wish to extend it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You came back earlier than planned? Keep proofs and speak with your broker as soon as possible to see if you are eligible for a refund.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the event of a claim, submit all original invoices within 90 days of your return to your home province.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your broker if you have any questions or to purchase a new policy!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the departure date approaches, you have more and more things to think about!
